07-25-2026 - I saw an ad for e-mail advertising that touted a subscriber list that would be equal to 1 out of every 3.5 people in the USA (331 million population) being signed up to receive marketing emails. If you eliminate people under 18, that drops the available population to 257 million. At that level, it would mean that 1 out of every 2.7 people signed up for those emails. I find either situation a little hard to believe. When it comes to advertising - print, website, or email - a calculator is the Mail Order Dealer's best friend.

07-25-2026 - I had a Facebook account in 2009-2010. I never had any trouble with the account. I was never warned by Facebook of any policy violations. I was never suspended. I had no complaints about Facebook, other than the fact that it just wasn't for me. One day, I simply closed my account. The rest of the story!

07-25-2026 - The year was 1977 and I had an offer to spend a half-day or so aboard the USS Coral Sea, a Navy aircraft carrier. We sailed under the Golden Gate Bridge and out to sea. A few months earlier, I received a tour of the Coral Sea while it was docked. I saw the bridge, the Combat Information Center, and many other interesting locations. It was on the cruise that I learned about the amusing method used to show movies throughout the ship. The movie was projected onto a very small screen. A few feet from the film projector was a video camera pointed at the screen. That camera - picking up video and sound - fed into the ship's cable TV system. High-tech! The Coral Sea was decommissioned in 1990. Scrapping was completed in 2000.

07-24-2026 - Good Morning from Eagle Mountain Lake, just west of Fort Worth. Nothing but boating and BBQ on the schedule for today. The only downside is the heat, with another 100 degree day in the forecast. I'll still be posting a few updates, but it might be later in the day. My Folgers Black Silk coffee is ready. UPDATE: Below is the $7 million home/parsonage of mega church pastor Kenneth Copeland on Eagle Mountain Lake. We decided not to take the boat any closer. His airport is behind the house, and the church is behind the airport. You can't tell from the pic, but that house is pretty big.
07-23-2026 - Today, I mailed another handful of "site announcement" postcards. It's kind of funny for me to mail postcards because I give the ones I receive only a split-second glance before tossing them in the trash. With 99.99% of them promoting an MLM or gifting program, I feel safe just tossing them.
