07-31-2026 - It was night firing training - with the M-16 rifle - during Infantry Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Fort Polk (then Fort Johnson and then back to Fort Polk), Louisiana. To mark the left and right limits of the range were wooden utility poles with red flashing lights on the tops. The rest of the story!

07-31-2026 - It got up to 108 degrees in North Texas today, and I had no idea. I guess I was inside most of the day, having finished my yardwork by 9:30 AM. I did go to Walmart in the early afternoon, and I got scorched walking from the car to the building. I just didn't think it was 108 degrees worth of scorch. I learned to pre-cool the house early in the day, gradually raising the temperature to the desired level. By the time it's 108 outside, the air conditioner isn't trying to play catch-up.

07-31-2026 - The USPS closed my account as requested. That was three days ago. The next day, I received the stamp order, which, 13 days after the order, still showed "processing" in my account. In all, it took 16 days to arrive. I withdrew my credit card dispute with my credit card company. I'll just buy stamps at the Post Office. I refuse to buy counterfeit stamps. The Post Office is in enough financial trouble, and I need the Post Office!

07-31-2026 - Good Morning! It’s Friday, a day of varying importance depending on whether you’re retired or not. One of the first things I do in the morning is check the appraisal district website for my county to make sure my name is the most recent, meaning that there are no actions to try to hijack my deed. All is okay in that department this morning, so I’ll just enjoy a cup of Folgers Black Silk coffee while I brainstorm content for this site.

07-30-2026 - Do you remember how some dealers would accuse other dealers of hiding behind a P.O. Box instead of using a "real" address? I think the days of hiding ended not long after 9/11. Have you seen the identification hoops you have to jump through to get a P.O. Box now? You now need (1) a primary form of identification that includes a clear photograph of the individual bearer and (2) a secondary form of identification such as a lease, mortgage, or deed of trust, voter or vehicle registration card, or home or vehicle insurance policy. So, stop looking down at those who use a P.O. Box. I used one years ago, but I don't use one now. Why drive to the Post Office when the Post Office can drive to me?

07-30-2026 - About 20 years ago, I devised a sales circular offering a free web page to mail-order dealers and sent it to a print & mail dealer for distribution. The only one who accepted the offer was the print & mail dealer. Something is telling me that my circular never left the print & mail dealer’s office.

07-30-2026 - I'm amused by those websites promoting some money-making idea, with descriptions that never seem to end. You scroll and scroll and scroll through the hyper-excited adjectives and income claims. If I have to scroll more than once, the offer is too complicated, and I move on to something else. A product or service in the Extra Income Mail Order business shouldn’t even require a scroll. Programs are another story. Scroll at your own risk.

07-30-2026 - Here's an idea - start a daily journal, as I have here, but put it in a PDF file. Sell ad space on that journal, and make the file available for download (or send by email) for a fee. A PDF file will hold an amazing amount of information in a size easy to transfer. Look over the Extra Income Mail Order publications, and you might agree that we are in a period of “new product & service idea” stagnation. Yes, people are continually coming up with new “gifting” program ideas, but those are not products or services. Your opinion might vary.

07-30-2026 - Good Morning! It’s Thursday, and another day of exploring the fantastic field of Extra Income Mail Order lies ahead. I was "minus two years old" when this 1950 issue of Mail Sale Advertiser came out. Looking through it, I couldn't find a single “money game.” It would be several decades before those hit the market. In those days, it was nothing but actual products and services. It’s time to fire up my new Keurig Mini for a cup of Folgers Black Silk coffee.
