08-03-2026 - Good Morning! It's Monday, and hopefully a chore-free day for me. Nothing to do but brainstorm ideas for things to post to this journal. I ended the day yesterday by re-reading parts of "How to Start and Operate a Profitable Homemade Booklet Business" by Don Massey. I've had this booklet since around 1993. The book was originally published by Modern Manuscripts in 1992, but Don bought the rights to it in 1993 and updated it. Don also published an excellent video of him actually going through the daily operation of his home office. I still have that video. I really need to have it transferred to digital format. It's that good. My Folgers Black Silk Coffee is ready.
08-02-2026 - I once again stumbled upon an “extra income mail order” website that has been abandoned for at least 15 years now. Maybe 20. It’s one of those “free hosting” websites that will probably remain online until the hosting company folds up. I probably see this one every few years while searching for related items. There are several long-abandoned “mail order” sites like this. I wonder if any of the advertisers are still getting responses? Some of them I recognize as having gone out of business.

08-02-2026 - In our home, in 1965, there was a book called “The Odd Book of Data.” The only thing I remember was the part about how much an ocean liner would sink if a fly landed on it. I checked eBay for the book and found a handful, with the price ranging from $5.56 to $55.75. That’s a crazy spread.
08-02-2026 - Do you remember a disk-based program called Network Gold that appeared in the early to mid-1990s? You purchased the disk from a dealer. From the disk, you printed a page for each of the 4 dealers. You mailed the page to those dealers along with $5. Once you received the unique code from each dealer, you input those codes into the program, which “unlocked” your disk. You could then start distributing your disk and receive $5 for your code from new participants. Looking back, I guess it was nothing more than a gifting program, just on disk rather than paper. I had never heard of a gifting program. Waiting for those code numbers was kind of exciting.

08-01-2026 - We need fewer money games and more printed information reports. Pen and ink bring big profits. Write an informative how-to report on any of thousands of topics. Not everything is on YouTube. Offer your report for a few dollars, plus postage. You’ll have an endless supply, yet no inventory. Just print on demand. Mail it for a single stamp. Or email it and save 82¢!
08-01-2026 - I'm preparing a "site announcement" ad order to be mailed to one of our well-known advertising publishers. I'm also sending out another handful of "site announcement" postcards. What are you doing to promote your business?

08-01-2026 - Of course, I've had payments made to me using PayPal, but nothing comes close to opening an envelope and having cash money fall out! I've been doing this since 1992, and I've never lost a dime in the mail. In fact, I'm $10 ahead because someone once sent me a $10 bill with no instructions as to what it was for, and no return address. Wow!

08-01-2026 - Good Morning! It’s Saturday, the first day of August, and I have nothing on my schedule. I’ve made a lot of changes to the advertising program over the last week. I'll probably make a few more until I get it right. Mail Order Dealers are used to the “anything goes” policy of some advertising publishers, but I’m a little more picky about the type of ads I’ll host. Why do what everyone else is doing? That’s no way to stand out! My Folgers Black Silk coffee is ready.
