08-22-2026 - Good Morning! It’s Saturday, and we got some much-needed rain this morning. I don’t think a lot fell over our “water supply” lakes, but our lawns got watered. We're constantly on the edge of one drought stage or another, and the City keeps talking about data centers. We didn’t get as hot as originally forecast yesterday, but 105 degrees was plenty hot. Today’s forecast is 108 degrees with the possibility of more rain tonight. My Folgers Black Silk coffee is ready.
08-21-2026 - Today, I received yet another circular promoting "The Divine Giving Gift Club". This one is a semi-regular for me. I'm sure I'm not the only one getting mail for the same programs every day. I know the mailing list people are making money! I've noticed that a lot of mail containing gifting programs has no return address on the envelope. Does anyone have something of their own creation to promote? Something that's not a gifting program? That would be like finding a gold nugget in the little creek (some call it a river) that passes through my town.

The stamp features an original portrait of the author with the Maine coast as background and a ray of sunshine, evoking a scene from her best-known work, “The Country of the Pointed Firs.”

08-20-2026 - Do you remember the Once A Month Association, or OAMA? I think the originator passed away over a decade ago, and I guess the program went with him. I have not seen mention of OAMA in years. It was one of the early mlm/gifting programs. The program cost $15 to join. Of that $15, $10 went to the member who recruited you and $5 went to the program originator. You had to send in $15 each month to remain a member. In return, you got to keep $10 per month from everyone you recruited. There was no product involved.
