09-14-2026 - Good Morning! It's Monday, and the U.S. Mail resumes. Our local school bus operation also resumes, and I'm listening to them on my scanner radio. It's too early for popcorn, but the bus radio show is pure entertainment. Today is National Cream Filled Donut Day, National Sober Day, National Inclusion Week, National Eat A Hoagie Day, National Rosa Tequila Day, Chef Appreciation Week, Frevo Day, Toronto International Film Festival, and National Jeans for Genes Day. My Folgers Black Silk coffee is ready.

09-13-2026 - It was a few years ago, but I regularly received offers for the same program, almost daily. The curious, or maybe not so curious, thing was that most had a mailing label bearing the same code number. It was apparent that new participants were being supplied with the same mailing list. Programs are cool, but they have become the bulk of things advertised these days. We need more original thinkers in the Extra Income Mail Order business, people who can come up with new ways to earn money that don't involve programs. I know, crazy idea!

09-13-2026 - A few years ago, I saw a long list of things "boomers" still do that millennials don't, like paying bills by mail and mailing postcards. The article said that some millennials didn't even know where postage stamps came from. The stork, maybe? But it's all good because there are still plenty of boomers out there, including me, who know how to make money by mail.

09-13-2026 - Good Morning! It’s Sunday, our heat wave continues. and It might be football all day! While I enjoy watching several sports, I don’t worry about stats, who’s who, or who’s doing what. 09-12-2026 - Mail Order Dealer Website Idea #1 - My mailbox is filled daily with envelopes stuffed with sales circulars. If I'm not interested in certain offers, I discard them. These folks could save a ton of money by scanning those documents, posting them on their website, and mailing postcards and/or running small display or text ads in our industry print publications. The cost of mailing out sales material for a few months easily exceeds the yearly cost of web hosting.

09-12-2026 - Quoting the USPS: "The Postal Service continues its tradition of honoring American military academies by issuing a stamp commemorating the 150th anniversary of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. A dedication ceremony for the stamp was held today at Custom House Pier in New London."

09-12-2026 - There was nothing new in the mail today, just the same programs that I see almost every day. They're working for someone! A couple of college football games filled the rest of the day. Right now, the Texas Longhorns are getting spanked by Ohio State, but it's still early. The NFL starts tomorrow with the Cowboys playing the last game of the day.

09-12-2026 - A locally owned chain of convenience stores in my town is now defunct, but in their heyday, they seemed to be a magnet for armed robbery. Once, a robber simply took the cash register, no questions asked. A few months later, at the same location, and noticing that the cash register was now bolted to the counter, the robber, possibly the same guy, used a chainsaw to cut the register from the counter.

09-12-2026 - If you think the news is bad in the U.S., be glad you’re not in the United Kingdom, where you might see this headline: “Chimney-sweep turf war breaks out in Greater Manchester.”

09-12-2026 - Good Morning! It’s Saturday, and my local forecast is calling for 104 degrees. Then we might start our slide back to more normal temperatures for this time of year. I’m looking forward to snow and those 40-pound sacks of birdseed! Today is World Dolphin Day, National Video Games Day, National Chocolate Milkshake Day, German Language Day, National Police Woman Day, International Drive Your Studebaker Day, National Day of Encouragement, and Toronto International Film Festival. I've got Morse code running in the background with two Amateur (ham) Radio Operators having a nice conversation and my Folgers Black Silk coffee is ready!

09-11-2026 - From the U.S. Department of Justice - AUGUSTA, Georgia: A Florida woman has been sentenced to prison for her role in a multi-state scheme to fraudulently obtain unemployment insurance benefits. The sentence was imposed by U.S. District Court Judge Dudley H. Bowen and announced by Margaret E. “Meg” Heap, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Georgia. Cheryl Galloway, 67, of Yulee, Florida, was sentenced to 71 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release and ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $454,624.20 and criminal forfeiture of $96,119 after being convicted of Conspiracy to Commit Mail Fraud. There is no parole in the federal system. As described in court documents and testimony, over a two-year period Galloway, along with her co-conspirators, electronically submitted fraudulent applications with agencies in at least 40 states. The fraud scheme employed by Galloway and her co-conspirators involved filing for pandemic unemployment benefits around the country, stating they were impacted in those states, and lying about various material aspects of the applications. As a result, the conspirators received approximately $480,000 to which they were not entitled, and they attempted to obtain even more money through fraudulent and deceptive means. Some of the benefits were in the form of a debit card sent to Galloway through the U.S. Mail.
