09-21-2026 - It was 1977, and I was stationed at the Presidio of San Francisco. I was driving an Army bus, returning from a military funeral with the honor guard, of which I was a member. We were in the Broadway Street tunnel. Almost everyone was asleep. I eased open the door, shut off the ignition, let that massive exhaust pipe load up with unburned gas, turned it back on, and BOOOOM! Sleepers jumped up, blast victim's tires screeched, horns blew, and a woman pulled up by the door and screamed that she was going to report us for throwing bombs. Now, when I’m behind a school bus, the sight of that big-bore exhaust brings a smile.
09-21-2026 - Today, I saw another woman pushing a baby in a stroller in the street. The worst part is that she was walking with her back to traffic. One distracted driver can end her and the child in a heartbeat. I don’t understand. Has this person never heard of people texting while driving and running into things? The poor child is defenseless. On a similar note, I once saw a woman in her front yard, baby strapped to her chest, spraying a wasp nest.
09-21-2026 - Headlines - Postal Inspection Service deploys armed guards to Denver ahead of ballot mailing, Gen Z is bringing iced coffee to the job interview. Recruiters have thoughts, AI agents are ready to run your life, Postal Inspection Service is offering a new reporting system that consumers can use to help combat counterfeit stamp and postage fraud, USPS to begin piloting a proof of concept (POC) called the Marketing Mail Optimized Delivery (MMOD).
09-21-2026 - Today, I received a checking copy from another well-known adsheet publisher hosting one of my site announcement display ads. Another mailing included an envelope stuffed with gifting programs. Ads from dealers selling products and services of their own creation are getting very scarce.

09-21-2026 - Good Morning! It's Monday, once again. We had a slight threat of rain yesterday, but nothing happened. It's also National Chai Day, Miniature Golf Day, Earth, Wind and Fire Appreciation Day, International Week of Deaf People, Seed Gathering Season, Zero Emissions Day, National Pecan Cookie Day, and Tirana International Film Festival. My Folgers Black Silk coffee is ready.
09-20-2026 - On my scanner radio, I’m hearing a short burst of Amateur (ham) Radio communications from the repeater aboard the International Space Station. I must be on the edge of the “radio” footprint on this pass because it didn’t last long. The repeater serves “hams” on the ground, but astronauts can and do make contact with “hams” on the ground, especially schools. There are always licensed Amateur (ham) Radio Operators on board the ISS. If you're interested, Google ARISS, “Amateur Radio on the International Space Station.” You’ll find schedules, frequencies, and a lot more!
09-20-2026 - According to a story on the USPS website, Letter Carrier Josh Gueniot heard a woman yelling while delivering mail in Essex Junction, VT. The yell came from a woman who had fallen on her screened-in porch. The letter carrier called for medical help. According to the story, the woman, who suffered broken bones, is now recovering at home following a period of rehabilitation.

09-20-2026 - The biggest job Congress has is how to get money from the taxpayers without disturbing the voters.
09-20-2026 - Mail Order Dealer Website Idea #6 - Host Third-Party Content - Many websites now host "extra income mail order" advertising, but most deal in scanned circulars, display ads, PDF files, and other graphic products. It's your website, and you can host whatever advertising formats you want, but you might consider that the industry needs more sites that host plain-text advertising. Sites that host plain text exclusively would do well. Of course, that’s my biased opinion.

09-20-2026 - Good Morning! It's Sunday and National Pepperoni Pizza Day, National Fried Rice Day, National Queso Day, National Inclusion Week, World Paella Day, Wife Appreciation Day, National String Cheese Day, and National Care For Kids Day. I got two-thirds of my yard mowed yesterday. I might finish the rest today. Or, I might not. My Folgers Black Silk coffee is ready!
09-19-2026 - I received a checking copy of a popular Mail-Order advertising publication today. More money-making programs also arrived in the mail. The obligatory “If only 10 people…” or “if only 50 people…” You know the drill. One involved counterfeit postage stamps, so I tossed it faster than usual. If you depend on the Post Office to get your offers into the hands of others, why would you try to put the Post Office out of business? Inquiring minds want to know. Well, at least I do.
