08-11-2026 - Good Morning! It's Tuesday, and once again, I have nothing important on my schedule. I was looking through some of the posts I made a few years ago in another “Mail Order” journal I had about an offer for email advertising. I won’t bore you with the details, but the number of people my ad was supposed to reach would have included one out of every 2.7 adults in the U.S. When it comes to advertising - print, website, or email - a calculator and some common sense might be the Mail Order Dealer's best friend. My Folgers Black Silk coffee is ready.
08-10-2026 - A decade ago, I saw a YouTube video with a guy in a T-shirt and a watch cap, or beanie, telling me how I could make several hundred thousand dollars a year, just like him. You’ve heard of the importance of first impressions, I’m sure. His was bad, at least for me. I moved on. Then there was the video of another guy trying to send people to some program website. He showed viewers a program-related form on his desk. That form contained his username and password. I hope he caught that in time before someone hacked him.
08-10-2026 - We really need more 100- to 200-circulation printed adsheets, mailed by the publishing dealer. We don’t need more 1,000- to 5,000-circulation ad sheets because it looks like we’re running out of places in the “print world” to carry them. A low-circulation adsheet is a great way to get your message out at little or no cost. Think about it, put your calculator to the problem, create that adsheet, and advertise it here!

08-10-2026 - Americans are getting stronger. Fifty years ago it took two people to carry $50 worth of groceries. Today, a child can do it.
08-10-2026 - I visit a lot of websites found in Mail Order publications, just to see who's doing what. Most of the sites belong to someone other than the person posting the ad. Those posting the ad either have a /mypage or equivalent info after the main web address, or they provide an ID number to input. I thinks it's better to promote these sites from your own site, not from an ad. Why give that other site free national advertising? Plus, I want to see who's trying to take me to that third-party website. Maybe they have products of their own to sell.

08-10-2026 - Some of the "experts" in this field say not to use a rubber-stamped address on your envelopes. I can understand that, but I do it anyway. I sometimes use rubber-stamped envelope art. I personally feel no need to act or look like a Fortune 500 company. I'm a one-person, home-based operation. I don't mind looking that way. What I don't like is sales material that looks like it's a copy of a copy of a copy. That's where I draw the line. Your mileage may vary.

08-10-2026 - Good Morning! It’s Monday, and I didn’t do much posting over the weekend. I’ll need to play catch-up today. Our forecast is calling for 102 degrees today. That means I won’t be outside much. My Folgers Black Silk coffee is ready.
08-09-2026 - I survived the Great Texas Freeze of February 2021. The ADSHEET #8 HQ was actually affected far less than others around the state, and even in town. We were without power for a total of 15 hours. Some were without power for a week. We had a generator to keep us warm. Many did not. Don't be among the "many did not" group. Start saving for a generator now. The peace of mind is priceless. The rest of the story.
