09-06-2026 - Good Morning! It’s Sunday, and there's still no rain in the forecast at the ADSHEET #8 HQ. There’s no mail delivery today, of course, but there’s also no mail tomorrow, Labor Day. Maybe I’ll read some old mail to get me through the rest of the weekend. Today is National Read a Book Day, National Color Blind Awareness Day, Fight Procrastination Day, National Pet Rock Day, National Coffee Ice Cream Day, Great Egg Toss Day, Bunks Across America, and Carl Garner Federal Lands Cleanup Day. My Folgers Black Silk coffee is ready.
09-05-2026 - Is it just in my area, or do TV news presenters everywhere use the tag-team method? You know, one presenter reads a line, then hands it off to the other, who reads a line. Sometimes it goes back to the first one to say a few more words before going to the video. Stop it! And, while I'm on the subject, I'm beginning to think news media people have a "hotkey" on their computer that spits out the words allege, alleged, and allegedly. Come on, folks, be creative and occasionally try alternate ways to express yourself.
09-05-2026 - Marketing experts frequently remind us of the value of offering a "Money Back Guarantee" for your product or service. I wonder what these experts think about the "No Refunds" warning in the advertising for many gifting programs. Since there's no product or service to complain about, there's no basis to request a refund.
09-05-2026 - In the mail today was a 12-page, full-color booklet promoting a program that involves the lottery. I thumbed through it, but I don’t have much interest in programs. The mailpiece, however, was fantastic. I almost hate to throw it away. Also in the mail was a checking copy of Liberty Press magazine containing one of my site announcement ads. And last but not least, there was a copy of the Independent Business Marketer adsheet and accompanying materials. Actually, there were a few more pieces of opportunity mail, but they were horrible copies of copies of copies. How does this happen? Is the "prime source" for the offer providing sub-dealers or downlines with crappy master copies? That's hard to believe, but not impossible. What kind of world are these people living in to think that it's okay to mail this stuff?

09-05-2026 - Although I don’t allow advertising for Multi-level Marketing and other money-making programs, except for an offer to send program sales materials, I recognize that it’s a huge slice of the “extra income” market. People promoting these programs need the same “tools of the trade” to keep their operation running as those selling ad space and information products. Are you offering these tools of the trade?09-05-2026 - From the U.S. Department of Justice - 09-04-2026 - Father and Son Convicted for Their Roles in the Murder of a USPS Mail Carrier - CLEVELAND – Today, a federal jury convicted a father and son for their roles in the pre-meditated murder of an on-duty United States Postal Service (USPS) letter carrier in March of 2024. After a nearly two-week-long trial in front of U.S. District Judge Donald C. Nugent, Kaprise Sledge, 24, of Warren, and Thomas Sledge, 44 of Youngstown, were found guilty of: Murder of an Officer and Employee of the United States Using, Carrying, and Discharging a Firearm During and in Relation to a Crime of Violence According to evidence presented to the jury, on March 2, 2024, the two men aided and abetted one another in the premeditated killing of Jont’e Davis, age 33. At the time of his murder, Davis was carrying out his official duties as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, in Warren, Ohio, when he was struck by gunfire coming from a gray Dodge Ram truck that drove up next to his parked mail truck. An eyewitness called 911 and identified the vehicle involved in the shooting. Investigators were able to confirm that the truck was registered to Kaprise Sledge. Through video surveillance footage and telephone records, investigators were able to establish that Kaprise Sledge and his father, Thomas, stalked Davis along his delivery route for approximately an hour and a half before shooting and killing him. Additionally, during the execution of a search warrant at Kaprise Sledge’s residence, agents located evidence of drug trafficking.

09-05-2026 - Good Morning! It's Saturday. The lack of rain has slowed my need to mow the lawn considerably. I have been watering, but not enough to spur normal growth and appearance, but enough to keep it from becoming a fire hazard! I don't have anything planned for today. I could make a few Amateur (ham) Radio Morse code contacts. I have some catching up to do in that activity. Today is International Bacon Day, International Day of Charity, National Cheese Pizza Day, World Samosa Day, National Cellulite Day, World Beard Day, International Vulture Awareness Day, and National Hummingbird Day. My Folgers Black Silk coffee is ready.
09-04-2026 - From the U.S. Postal Inspection Service - Ohio father and son convicted for their roles in the murder of USPS letter carrier Jont’e Davis in Warren, OH on March 2, 2024. Both men face up to life imprisonment at sentencing.
09-04-2026 - A Lincoln, Nebraska, postal employee was arrested and charged with the theft of a package containing six high-value sports cards worth $46,000.
09-04-2026 - Senator Josh Hawley's comments regarding Postmaster David Steiner's Friday visit to St.Louis: "Missourians have suffered poor mail service for years, and it’s grossly unacceptable. They deserve answers,” said Senator Hawley. “Instead of posing for a photo op, the Postmaster General can return his bonus to taxpayers, pledge his full cooperation with congressional investigations, and support my bill to restrict bonuses for postal executives until Missourians receive their mail on time.”

09-04-2026 - In the mail today was yet another program promoted by a poorly copied circular complete with pics of fancy cars, boats, and planes. Poor copies tell me this person has yet to make enough money to buy these cars, boats, and planes. I don't mean to be negative, but these things stand out like a thumb that's been beaten with a hammer. But these gimmicks work because many people tune out those danger signals to believe in that scrumptious "pie in the sky".
